FAQ
HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR JEWELERY?
CHECK OUT OUR MOST COMMON QUESTIONS BELOW!
-
How does permanent jewelry work?Permanent Jewelry is applied with a welding machine which is specifically created for fragile metals. After the client has been sized for the appropriate amount of slack, the spark welds together a jump ring or two ends of the chain, that replaces the need for a clasp (clasp-less jewelry).
-
Does it hurt?Nope! Permanent jewelry is completely painless! The spark that is generated during this process is NOT of high temperature, and the client will not feel a thing as we are working with the metal. There is absolutely no risk to the client since your machine will only react to metal. Even if the customer's skin comes into contact with the weld point, the electrode will not generate a spark. We will also use a small piece of leather to shield your skin from the spark! Making sure you feel extremely safe!
-
Can it be removed? The chains applied during this process are thin enough to last but not thick enough to cause harm to the wearer in the event that it becomes caught on an object. If the jewelry needs to be removed for any reason, simply snip with a pair of scissors. The jewelry can always be re-welded! All chains come with one free re-weld! If a chain needs to be removed for any medical reason, we will also re-weld for free! Scissors, wire cutters, or pliers are all capable of cutting your jewelry. For necklaces, in case of emergency and for added safety, we leave one link un-welded so that it is easier to pull off.
-
Does it require maintenance? This jewelry can undergo months of wear without needing to be cleansed. To maintain the integrity of the link, aftercare can be used to remove debris or build up.
-
Can I really wear it all the time?Yes! Your jewelry is waterproof so you can wear it 24/7. If you hop in the pool or ocean, be sure to give your jewelry a good rinse in soapy water afterwards and pat dry.
-
Can I wear my jewelry through airport security?Yes! TSA allows you to leave on all jewelry

What are the chains made of?Gold fill - a more economical choice while still long lasting. Our gold fill chain will stay gold for 1 year + and then will slowly fade. It's still waterproof, tarnish resistant, and won't turn your skin green. Sterling Silver - Our sterling silver chain is economical and sparkly. How should I care for my earrings?Polymer clay is a durable, slightly flexible, and lightweight material when cured. Although durable, it can get scratched or broken by hitting hard surfaces/materials and rough handling. Be sure to store your earrings carefully where they won't be prone to being knocked around or in rough contact with other metal jewelry. I recommend saving the box they come in for safe storage! Polymer clay is a plastic-like material once cured and will not shatter if dropped. It bends before breaking, but please take care and remember that each earring is handmade, wearable art, and can break with enough force. Makeup and other debris can be removed from clay components by gently going over blemished areas with a cotton swap or soft cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol or water. Raw brass components may tarnish and darken over time if exposed to water and oils from the skin but can be easily cleaned with a soft jewelry cloth and/or tarnish remover. To extend the life of your jewelry, it is highly recommended that your XOCHI Handcrafted jewelry be removed and stored safely prior to sleeping, bathing, swimming, and exercising.
-
Are XOCHI Handcrafted earrings hypoallergenic?Yes! All of XOCHI Handcrafted jewelry is hypoallergenic! XOCHI offers jewelry made of sterling silver, gold filled sterling silver, gold plated sterling silver and occasionally stainless steel.
